Terms of Service

Unonico ("Unonico team", "Unonico", "our", "we", or "us") provides a communication service (the "Service"). You sign up for the Service either on our website or on Unonico's eponymous app (the "app"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Service. By signing up for the Service, you agree to these Terms. These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, available at https://unonico.com/privacy.

1. Eligibility

In most countries, you must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. In some countries, we set a different minimum age; in the Republic of Korea, for example, you must be at least 14 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet the applicable minimum age and that you are able to enter into a binding agreement.

2. Sign-up

You must sign up to the Service using an email address ("log-in email address") that you solely use and that you do not share with anyone. If, voluntarily or involuntarily, someone gets access to your log-in email address, update your log-in email address with another email address as soon as possible.

You are responsible for keeping your log-in credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account.

You may hold only one account. Creating or maintaining more than one account is not permitted.

To enforce this, we keep a temporary record of the email addresses recently used to log in to each account (as described in our Privacy Policy), and check new sign-ups against it:

• If you sign up with an email address that was recently used by an account that no longer exists, sign-up proceeds as normal, and the earlier record of email addresses associated with that account is linked to your new account. Once linked, the email addresses in that record can no longer be used for new sign-ups.
• If someone tries to sign up with an email address included in a record linked to an existing account, we will not send a verification email and the sign-up will not be completed. Instead, we will send a notice to that email address so its owner is aware of the attempt. If the attempt was made by the owner, the notice also serves as a reminder that multiple accounts are not allowed.

3. Single-device use

Your account may be logged in on only one device at a time. Logging in on a new device will log the account out on any device where it is currently logged in. The app has no separate log-out feature: you remain logged in on a device until you log in on another device or delete your account.

When you log in on a new device, we may require you to verify your log-in email address again before you can use the app on that device.

The app is intended to be used on a single device by a single person. You must not share your account or rotate it among devices so that more than one person can use it. We may limit how frequently an account can switch devices, and may suspend or terminate accounts that appear to be shared or that switch devices abnormally often.

4. Acceptable use

The mission of the Service is to provide a space for private, respectful communication between friends. You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten, abuse, or harm others.
• Post or share content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's rights, or that contains sexual content involving minors.
• Attempt to identify other users, uncover their connections, or otherwise defeat the privacy protections of the Service.
• Access the Service through unauthorized or automated means, or interfere with its normal operation or security.
• Attempt to gain access to content of users who are not your friends.
• Attempt to gain access to accounts that do not belong to you.
• Scrape, crawl, harvest, or otherwise collect data or content from the Service by any manual or automated means; use such data or content to build a dataset or train machine-learning or AI models; or copy, store, or republish other users' content or information outside the Service.

5. Fees and paid features

The Service is currently free to use. In the future, we may place limits on certain features — for example, the number of friends you can add — and may offer paid options or charge fees for use beyond those limits. These limits are meant to keep the Service centered on interaction and communication with the people you actually know.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create and share through the Service. You grant us a limited license to host, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you and the friends you share it with. You are responsible for the content you share and for having the right to share it. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

7. Our intellectual property

The Service and the app — including their software, design, text, graphics, logos, and the Unonico name and brand — belong to Unonico or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the app to access the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service, except to the extent the law does not allow us to restrict this.

Third-party notices: The Service and the app include GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com.

8. Safety and reporting

To keep the Service safe, we may act on abuse or violations of these Terms — for example, by removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, or, where appropriate, notifying law enforcement.

You can report other users, their content, or their interactions with you through the in-app report feature. When we handle a report, we may contact the people involved by email, as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. No access to emergency services

The Service is not a substitute for your mobile phone, a fixed-line telephone, or SMS. It cannot be used to reach emergency services or emergency responders — such as the police, fire departments, or hospitals — and it does not connect to public safety answering points. Please make sure you always have another way to reach emergency services, such as a mobile or fixed-line telephone.

10. App stores

If you download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, your use is also subject to the applicable app store's terms. Those stores are not responsible for the Service and are not parties to these Terms.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we need to protect the Service or its users. We may also change, add, or remove features of the Service, or discontinue it, at any time, and you may lose access as a result. In addition, we may delete your account automatically after a prolonged period of inactivity, as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unonico will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes to these Terms will become effective when we post the revised Terms on this page https://unonico.com/terms. Please check our website frequently to see any updates or changes to our Terms. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

15. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

If a claim or dispute arises between us that relates to use of the Service, or that an entity brings on your behalf, you agree that any such claim or dispute must be resolved exclusively in the Seoul Central District Court of the Republic of Korea.

16. General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Unonico regarding the Service. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect. If we do not enforce a provision of these Terms, we do not give up our right to enforce it later. You may not transfer or assign these Terms or your account without our consent; we may assign these Terms, for example if our business is transferred to another entity.
